A Federal agency is any executive department, military department, Government corporation, Government-controlled corporation, or other establishment in the executive branch of the Government (including the Executive Office of the President), or any independent regulatory agency. Sec. 701.25 5 U.S.C. 552, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).

An access statute that pertains to agency records of the Executive Branch of the Federal Government, including the Executive Office of the President and independent regulatory agencies.

Note to Sec. 701.25: Records maintained by State governments, municipal corporations, by the courts, by Congress, or by companies and private citizens do not fall under this Federal statute.
